English 11 Teaching Materials & Student Resources
Hi there! Its been awhile. . . As you can expect with a new school year comes new duties and new business and craziness, but it's been good to be busy! The school year has already been flying by! It's crazy how fast the year has been going but that always happens! I've decided to do the same type of posts in regards to school work posts but change it up a little. I will be posting work by semesters, so what we do in semester one in English will be a post, semester two will be its own post and so on. Hopefully this helps it be more clear and easy to follow!
I thought that I would also include some notes on how I teach English 11 and some materials that we use that are provided for by our school. The formal name for English 11 is American Literature and Advanced Composition and it is a required course and is a full year course. The text we used is published by Pearson and is titled The American Experience. Students can either use an online textbook or ask to have a hardcopy. We read F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. At our school these are also provided. New this year is a literature circle unit covering dystopian novels. Our school is also a Google Classroom school so I often post presentations or note sheets into our classroom page. I do create a Google Form and have students fill it out as a get to know you thing.
On the first two days of school we begin by covering our syllabus, class procedures, and getting to know each other. I have linked my syllabus down below.
